The digitalized laboratory

As one of the most efficient sugar factories in Northern Europe, Nordic Sugar Nakskov performs many daily tasks of analyzing sugar samples in the laboratory. Using the traditional method of measuring crystal size distributions, Nordic Sugar was challenged by the time intensive analysis process and the potentially high margins of error due to the fact that the process took place manually.

Reduced need for manual labor

To meet these challenges, Nordic Sugar turned to us at Scangrading. We installed the SIZELAB X-Feed in the laboratory, and the digital setup enabled us to automate workflows and reduce the need for manual labor compared to using the traditional method for analysis. According to the laboratory technicians, there was a noticeable positive effect as a result of the digital setup.

Operators get faster access to test data from the laboratory

The SIZELAB X-Feed not only provides benefits in the laboratory, it also benefits the operators. When test results are ready, data is uploaded immediately in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This eliminates the need for laboratory technicians to enter data manually, freeing up even more time to perform more analyzes per day.

At the same time, operators can access the data in LIMS and can thus react faster to the results, which ensures high uptime in the production. The digital setup has been a great success at Nordic Sugar Nakskov, where workflows have been automated and streamlined in the laboratory and test results are more reliable, which helps to ensure a better end product.
